National Library Week | More to the Story: Narrative Medicine, Medical History, the Stories We Tell, and the Stories We Don’t
April 27 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The story we tell about the history of medicine is one of scientific enlightenment and exponential progress against disease. But whose histories do we leave out—and whose concerns do we minimize or ignore—in service of this sanitized tale? Medical humanities and narrative medicine help bring humanity back to clinical practice. Come learn ways to uncover buried stories in the historical record—and in the lives of your patients. This is a National Library Week 2023 presentation.
At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Explain the key principles of narrative medicine
- Identify methods for integrating medical humanities and narrative medicine techniques into the curriculum
