Five Pillars of the Mind: Redesigning Education to Suit the Brain
October 22 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Come participate in this “reader’s digest book club” session that will summarize the current book and theory by Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa and provide starting points for some great conversations regarding teaching and curriculum.
The Five Pillars of the Mind discusses a new way of looking at and categorizing knowledge and information. This new model is not meant to replace Bloom’s Taxonomy or any of the other models, but works as a great overlay to any of these theories or taxonomies. The Five Pillars also provides a great “hook” for teaching students new ways of learning. You will surely come away with learning something new from this session.
- List and describe the Five Pillars
- Discuss how the Five Pillars can complement other learning theories and taxonomies
- Discuss how each of the Five Pillars can be used in the classroom
